Gino Pozzo

Gino Pozzo is an Italian-English businessman who is the Chairman and majority shareholder of Watford Football Club.

Gino Pozzo is a successful entrepreneur based in London, Italy, and United States. He is the Chairman of WHL Group Ltd (formerly Watford Leisure Holdings Ltd), the parent company of football club Watford FC and its various subsidiary companies.

His Achievements

  • Gino Pozzo has been involved in several successful ventures, including the London (GB) based art auction house Christie’s International plc, which is one of the world’s leading art auction houses. He was a non-executive director of Christie’s International plc for 15 years until his resignation on 5 May 2009.
  • He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BSc degree in economics and statistics from Northumbria University.
  • He is also an experienced venture capitalist, having previously held executive roles at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Safra Capital LP.
  • He founded Ephox US Holdings Inc., which he later sold in 2005 to a UK-listed company, Chyron Corporation, and was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ephox Inc.
  • At Goldman Sachs Asset Management, he was the Global Head of Technology Investment Banking.

In August 2013, Mr. Pozzo was ranked #22 in The Sunday Times’ “Top 40 Biggest hitters in British Business” list. He was also included in the Financial Times’ “Top 50 Most Influential People in European football” list for 2013.

Mr. Pozzo co-owns Watford Football Club with his father, Giampaolo Pozzo, the President and majority shareholder of Italian club Udinese Calcio. Their matches are televised in more than 130 countries worldwide. The Pozzo’s also co-own Spanish club Granada C.F., which has a population of 150,000 and plays the UEFA Europa League every year.
