Randy Douthit

Randy Douthit (born November 15, 1949) is an accomplished American producer. He was born in Newberg, Oregon, graduated from the University of Portland State in 1970, and got an MBA from the same University in 1973. Randy Douthit has worked on some of the most popular television shows, including “Judge Judy,” “Larry King Live,” and “Crossfire.” He is an established producer who has received several awards for excellence in broadcasting.

Since 1970, Randy has held multiple roles in the entertainment industry, including executive producer at King Broadcasting, HBC, Quincy Jones Enterprises, Warner Brothers, New World entertainment, and various producer jobs at ABC and CNN. Robert King also holds several notable positions both within and outside of TV.

Since 2021, Randy has served as the executive producer and director of Judy Justice, the groundbreaking courtroom show that combines scripted drama with real-life cases. The show’s first season was a major hit. A total of over 6 million people tuned in to watch its premiere, and it was also streamed over 1 billion times. Before that, he served as the executive producer and director of Judge Judy for 25 years.

Douthit has been able to learn a lot from working with Sheindlin. “She is often seen on TV as this character with this really strong, acerbic wit,” he says. “But I didn’t know that she is such a warmhearted person in real life. She has a great sense of humor and is also very caring. She cares about her staff immensely and takes good care of us.

Beyond the Judge Judy courtroom confines, producers and directors are committed to improving the system and advocating for criminal justice reform. Randy Douthit serves as a board member for Public Counsel, an organization that provides pro bono legal assistance to families and children in need. “Public Counsel is helping people to fight back against big corporations or ensure their rights are protected,” he says.
